On this last day of BHM 2021, I share the story of Amber Rose Isaac, who would have turned 27 this past week. She is a young Black woman who died in childbirth during the pandemic last year, a life lost to the unacceptable Black maternal mortality disparities in the United States (where Black women are 3 to 4 times more likely to die in childbirth). In no way are Black stories confined to our suffering - or the shortest month of the year - but, as always, I’m reminded while holding our Black beauty, nuance and power — the work continues. Full report in my story.
Dose 1. Over 500,000 lost. Half a million lives. Thinking of them, especially today. #vaccinated
